Not convinced you’d use an expensive air fryer for anything more than late-night chips or a quick fish finger sarnie? This entry-level model could be your introduction to the benefits of crisping in a healthier way.
With one mechanical dial to set temperature (up to 200 degrees) and another to time (up to 30 minutes), there’s not much that can’t be cooked in here, thanks to the adaptable inserts.
The steel sliding tray is great for direct roasting, the insert basket great for draining oil from chicken portions and the non-stick inner basket easy to clean after even the stickiest of chicken wings or spicy potato wedges.
Food must be moved around the basket during cooking, but there’s more than enough power here to get everything evenly crispy with a bit of a shake. Our homemade chips were acceptably crisp and cooked well, though we’d up the timing for a few minutes just to get a bit of crunch.
The basket is well vented and has a large handle, though we’re not sure how well the silver trim on the handle will fare in the long term. It was easy to clean and wash out any debris and fat from the collecting tray underneath but this one can't go in the dishwasher.
For £40, this bargain buy even comes with a two-year guarantee. We could see it becoming a favourite in student accommodation or it makes a great first model for those new to air-frying.
