Method

  • step 1

Drain the potatoes in a colander, rinse and leave to drain again. Meanwhile, heat the air fryer for 2-3 mins at
190C. Put the potatoes in a bowl and drizzle over the oil. Season well with salt and freshly ground black pepper, plus any other seasonings you like (see tip, below).

  • step 2

Mix well so the potatoes are fully coated in the oil and seasoning. Transfer to the air fryer basket and cook for 20-25 mins until golden and crisp.

Recipe tip

You can flavour your potatoes with dried seasonings such as 1 tsp mixed herbs, 1 tsp garlic granules or 1 tsp smoked salt.

Sadly tinned potatoes explode in the air fryer. Be very careful. It would be great to hear any advice on how you can stop this happening?

I had an issue with these potatoes, I followed the instructions but two things happened, firstly, the potatoes shrink a lot, that's not a big problem, the one that is a problem is that they literally explode, I was shaking the basket a bit and some exploded all over me, luckily they missed my face…

Tried the roast tinned potatoes but sadly they didn't turn out crispy at all. Where am I going wrong?

Remember to stab the potatoes before cooking - just had one pop in my air fryer!

I’ve just received my air fryer and finding this simple recipe is great, as I have painful mobility issues. Less time standing, quick fixes, bring them on! Great tip Ash. Best wishes, Su.
