Cassie Best, food director, says: "Air-fryers are a great piece of kitchen kit if your kids are learning to cook. The heat is contained so they’re safe to touch on the outside without the risk of burns. Most air-fryers have baskets to hold the food, which will need to be lowered in and lifted out for cooking. It’s important that kids wear protective oven gloves for this, and use tongs to handle the food, as the inside of the basket and the heating element will get very hot. Buy a reusable air-fryer liner which can be lifted in and out of the basket for holding food, to further reduce the risk of burns."
