Method

  • step 1

Toss the bananas in 2 tbsp of the sugar. Heat a griddle to medium, then cook the bananas, a few pieces at a time, until sticky and showing griddle marks. Keep warm in a low oven.

  • step 2

For the sauce, put the remaining sugar, the butter and cream into a saucepan and stir over a gentle heat until the sugar has melted. Stir in the sesame seeds. Can be made up to a day ahead. To serve, put a few pieces of banana into 8 serving dishes, spoon over some of the caramel, then top with a scoop of ice cream.

Hi all, was hoping to give this recipe a go - how did you all quarter the bananas? Lengthways or into short cylinders? Thanks!

Really easy and delicious. If you dont have a griddle you can fry the bananas in some butter instead. Five stars

This recipe is really easy and tastes amazing. I don't have a griddle either but 'cooking' the bananas in a non stick saucepan does the trick just as well. Will definately make this again.

Toffee sauce is lovely very sweet so use sparingly and bananas came out delicious - griddle needs to be hot so as not to overlook them but to get a nice texture on the sugar - very easy and quick

Super recipe, the sauce turned out perfectly. Quick and simple. I don't have a griddle so I heated the bananas in the George Forman grill. Made it for friends and they all wanted seconds.
