Method

  • step 1

Oil two large ramekins (they need to be big enough to hold the eggs and water). Fill the ramekins three-quarters full with water, then put in the air fryer and heat at 200C for 5 mins. After this point, the water should be simmering.

  • step 2

Crack the eggs into a small cup or glass, then tip into the water in the ramekins. Put back in the air fryer and cook at 180C for 5-8 mins until the yolk is cooked to your liking (some air fryers don’t cook evenly, so you may want to turn the tray round halfway through cooking). Loosen the egg with a knife or spoon, then carefully tip onto a slotted spoon to drain the water, then serve.

I actually think this is a super helpful way of cooking poached eggs.

This is such a nonsense recipe, jumping on the air fryer craze. Literally you have no control over the timings, and the results are poor. Boiling water, set down to simmer, a little vinegar and swirl the water before dropping your egg in to poach your way to the perfect egg. Simple.

Cooked for 8 mins, but unsure if it was cooked, as water covered egg, drained and some white was still not cooked, so will go back to less water and oil.

Meh. A lot of faff. Difficult to tell when they are cooked. Ours were overcooked by the time we decided they were cooked. I’ll go back to Poachies pockets.

Surely it’s easier to use a pan and water
