  • 2OOg Self-raising flour
  • 75g margarine
  • 75g suger
  • 2 eggs
  • raspberry jam
  • vanillan essence

    Method

    • step 1

      oven on 190c.
    • step 2

      Rub margarine in to the flour to make breadcrumbs.
    • step 3

      mix in sugar.
    • step 4

      crack eggs into a bowl and mix together.
    • step 5

      add the egg to the flour mixture, a little at a time, using a table knife until the mixture forms s stiff dough.
    • step 6

      Turn out on to a clean surface. kneed lightly and make into a roll. Use a little flour if it sticks to the board.
    • step 7

      Divide into rounds equal pieces using a sharp knife.
    • step 8

      Shape into rounds, and place into cake case and into a bun tray.
    • step 9

      Make a well in the centre of each round and add a teaspoon of jam to each round.
    • step 10

      put in oven for 15min antill goldenbrown. When cooked put onto a cooling tray.

    I made this years ago when I was in high school.we always used a baking tray with baking paper they turned out delicious,now I made these today using the same recipe and they turned out delicious.

    These are so good i needed to put a little extra jam on after baking but apart from that they came out fine. If you add a little salt after baking and heat is in a microwave before eating they are the best.

    I put the raspberry buns straight onto a lightly greased baking tray, no cases needed. Divide the mixture into two sets of 5 small buns, brush with the remainder of the egg; lovely :)

    I have assumed this is caster sugar but you seem to have forgotten to say when you add the vanilla essence! Just made the recipe andrhen looked at the bottle of vanilla essence an though"Sod it when was that mean to go in"
