  • 500g lean mince (butcher's)
  • 2 garlic cloves (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp mild chilli powder
  • 1 beef Oxo cube
  • 1 egg

for the burger

  • 500g lean mince (butcher's)

  • 1 beef Oxo cube
  • 1 egg
  • Bread cakes/cobs
  • Cheese if wanting cheeseburger
  • sauce/mustard as required to serve

    Method

    • step 1

      Spread the mince in a large mixing bowl using your fist until about a centimeter thick.
    • step 2

      add the garlic, cumin and chilli powder
    • step 3

      Season with salt and pepper and sprinkle on the Oxo cube.
    • step 4

      add the egg and mix together well, using your hands
    • step 5

      Let the mixture chill for an hour in the fridge, then shape into balls and flatten to make the burger shape.
    • step 6

      Sear both sides in a hot frying pan (no oil or fat), then finish the burgers off in the oven (gas mark 6/180c) for 5 minutes (rare), 10 Minutes (medium) 15 minutes (well done). Serve in the bun with cheese, sauces, or relish. Enjoy x
