Hi there, the tablespoon of salt in the directions isn’t mentioned in the ingredient list. I put it in but it definitely tastes too salty. Can you clarify for me please?

Could I use sweetener instead of sugar?

goodfoodteam
Hi, thanks for your question. We haven't tried this recipe with sweetener. As it's not a large amount it should be okay but it will have a different flavour, which won't be to everyones tastes. Best wishes, BBC Good Food team

If I made these could I put in a jar and store like pickled onions

goodfoodteam
Hi, thanks for your question. We would recommend storing in the fridge but they should last for at least 3 months. Best wishes, BBC Good Food team

Can granulated sugar be used for this recipe?

goodfoodteam
Thanks for your question. The finer texture of caster sugar is better but if that's all you have then it's fine to use this as a substitute.
