Method

  • step 1

    Put the butter and sugar in a microwave-safe cup or ramekin and microwave on high for 30-50 seconds (longer if using fridge-cold butter) until melted.

  • step 2

    Stir in the egg yolk until glossy and combined. Stir in a pinch of salt and the vanilla. Add the flour, baking powder and chocolate chips. Microwave on high for 1 min until puffed and golden. Remove and leave for a few minutes before serving with ice cream, if you like.

Where do all the calories come from, as there is little sugar and chocolate. Does the ice optional ice cream add to it, and if so what is it without?

Hi, thanks for your question. The ice cream isn't included in the calorie count (anything listed as 'to serve' isn't included, unless a weight is specified). Hi, thanks for your question. Baking powder can have this sensation even when cooked for some people if a lot is used - is it possible you added too much?
