Dr Anita Mitra is an NHS doctor specialising in Obstetrics & Gynaecology who also appears online as 'The Gynae Geek'. Prior to her career as a doctor, she studied Medical Biochemistry at the University of Leicester. She subsequently went on to study medicine and qualified in 2011. Anita developed a passion for Women's health and started her specialist training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in London in 2013. Her area of clinical interest is in gynaecological cancers, and she was awarded her PhD from Imperial College London in 2018 for her research into cervical cancer & the vaginal microbiome. During her time in the hospital, Anita realised there were so many myths & misconceptions about Women's Health, often complicated by inaccurate information & false claims online. She, therefore, embarked on her mission to provide reliable yet engaging healthcare information, educate and empower women about how their bodies work & cut through the nonsense about Women's health. She does this via her online platform 'The Gynae Geek', and as a speaker at Wellness events & as a podcast guest. She also writes for magazines including Women's Health, Cosmopolitan & Marie Claire, as well as appearing on TV shows such as ITV This Morning & radio shows including Radio 4 Women's Hour. In 2019 her first book 'The Gynae Geek: Your No-Nonsense Guide To Down-There Healthcare' was published by Harper Collins.
