  • 5-6 medium sized apples, preferably of different varieties (braeburn, cox, gala)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnomon

    Method

    • step 1

      Wash the apples then peel, core and slice them.
    • step 2

      Place the apples in a large pan and then put in enough water to cover them up.
    • step 3

      Bring apples to the boil, then gently simmer for 15-20 minutes or until soft.
    • step 4

      Drain the apples, then, using a hand blender/ potato masher or spoon, mash the apples into a thick puree
    • step 5

      Place in the fridge to cool before serving.

    I agree with others who question using Splenda. Sugar is a healthier alternative. But the instruction that really made my jaw drop was putting the purée in the fridge to cool. Wrong on so many levels!!! Cool it down on the worktop before it gets anywhere near your fridge. The heat from the purée…

    What about using unrefined sugar, Muscovado sugar would be great. Splenda is full of chemicals.

    when do you add the cinnamon and splenda eitherwise, fairly easy

    Thanks for the recipe, it was really easy to do; in my opinion it wasn't sweet enough, I'd change the 1 tbsp of sweetener for 2 tbsp of caster sugar.
