  • 3oz self raising flour
  • 4oz butter/stork
  • 4oz caster sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • tsp baking powder
  • 1oz cocoa powder

  • 3oz self raising flour
  • 4oz butter/stork

  • tsp baking powder
  • 1oz cocoa powder
  • 9oz icing sugar
  • 5oz butter
  • 1oz cocoa powder
  • smarties
  • magic stars/buttons

    Method

    • step 1

      preheat the oven to 180C and grease two 15-20cm baking tins, cut out 2 circles of baking paper for the bottom of the tin
    • step 2

      sift the flour and cocoa powder and put all the ingredients for the cake in the bowl and mix together until creamy and thick. Put the mixture into each tin evenly.
    • step 3

      cook for 20mins , put a knife through, if it comes out clean it is reday, if not put back in the oven for a bit longer. leave cakes to cool
    • step 4

      sift the icing sugar and cocoa into a bowl and chop the softened butter into small cubes. Mix together until smooth and thick. Apply to cake once cool putting some in the middle between the two sponges and some on top. Decorate with smarties and magic stars
