How is the GreenPan Venice Pro Extra to use?

The handle on this pan is nicely shaped. Its ergonomically designed to neatly fit the contours of the hand. It's made from one solid piece of metal, meaning there’s no risk of water gathering inside, although this did mean that the handle got hot towards the bottom nearest the pan.

For added convenience, the pan is dishwasher safe, though GreenPan advise handwashing to prolong the life of the pan. It’s also oven safe up to an impressive 260C, offering greater versatility.

The pan isn’t the fastest to heat up; it took around 2 minutes 30 seconds, though slow heating means the pan is heated up evenly, producing a better cooking experience.

Results

We tested this frying pan using two classic but simple recipes: a basic omelette and American pancakes.

After preheating the pan, we poured in our beaten eggs for the omelette, then quickly reduced the heat. The pan cooled in a steady and measured way. The omelette was soft and fluffy on the inside and lightly browned on the outside. Removing anything from this pan is simple thanks to the sloping sides, too. These allowed us to get right under the omelette with our spatula.

As we dropped our American pancake batter into the pan we noticed it spread a little further than we’d have liked – this resulted in slightly thinner pancakes. When we flipped our pancakes, we were happy to see even and patch-free colouring. Unfortunately, after the second flip the pancake looked a little patchier, though this had no bearing on the flavour or texture.

Conclusion

This sturdy, good-quality frying pan is ideal for those looking to spend a little extra for reliability. While it’s not the cheapest frying pan on the market, this range is designed to withstand everything everyday cooking throws at it. Plus, if you like to keep your cookware coordinated, pots and pans are also available.

We loved its effective non-stick coating and how easy was to remove food from the pan. Watch out for the handle at the base though, as it can get hot.
