This hardy pan is sleek-looking thanks to the gently curved handle and pan sides. It’s oven safe too, up to an impressively high 260C.

How is the Circulon Steel Shield to use?
This truly is a striking frying pan. The ridged circle design on the inside of the pan makes it unmistakably a model by Circulon. The slim, ergonomic handle is comfortable to hold and doesn’t get too hot.
This pan isn’t the fastest when it comes to heating up as it takes around 2 mins 30 seconds, but this slower heat up time gives the pan a chance to heat up evenly.
Although it's one of the thinner frying pans we’ve tested, this Circulon model still has a good weight, and it’s well balanced in the hand, too.
Useful additions make this a highly versatile pan. It’s dishwasher safe and oven safe up to 260C. Plus, you can use metal utensils on the pan – we’d avoid using knives to cut in the pan, but you’re free use a metal fish slice or fork to flip.
Results
As we expected, when we cooked American pancakes, the circular pattern inside the pan imprinted onto the outside of the pancakes. If you prefer yours smooth and brown, it's not ideal, but it had no affect on the quality. The pancake itself was light and fluffy inside. We tested cooking the batter in a couple of different places on the pan and each pancake was as evenly browned as the last.
When cooking an omelette, we found the frying pan very responsive to changes in temperature, allowing us to fully control the cook. The omelette itself was soft and well-cooked inside, but we did find it difficult to remove from the pan. Although it didn't stick, there was a static-like force making it hard to get out.
Conclusion
Available in a good range of sizes, going up to a hefty 32cm, this frying pan is great for families and singles.
This is a fabulous looking non-stick pan that deserves pride of place in any kitchen. It’s not the cheapest, but it’s certainly hardwearing and its versatility is second to none.
