  • 1.5 lb of beetroot
  • 0.5 lb apples
  • 0.5 lb sugar
  • 0.5lb onions
  • 0.5 pint vinegar
  • 0.25 tsp ginger
  • 0.5 tsp mustard seeds

    Method

    • step 1

      cook and dice beetroot, peel, chop and dice apples and onions
    • step 2

      put all ingredients except for beetroot into large pan and boil until tender,
    • step 3

      add beetroot and boil for further 10 minutes.

    This is a very easy and tasty recipe, made it with my 8 year old daughter :) its a great way to use a glut of beetroots, we made the recipe exactly and it filled a 1L kilner jar (mason jar)

    i made this recipe but found it sweet could i add more beetroot to eliminate the sweetness.

    I made this last year alone with other relishes to eat at Christmas. It is delicious, Everyone loved it. Can I make it with eating apples as made with cooking apples last time.
