  • 250g plain flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 140g softened butter
  • 125g light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 175g Horlicks powder
  • 100g dark chocolate chips
  • a pinch of salt

    Method

    • step 1

Start off by beating the margarine and sugar in a bowl till light and fluffy then beat in the eggs
    • step 2

Sift in the flour, horlicks, baking powder and the salt and add the dark chocolate, fold this all in to form a dough then cover loosely and let that chill out in the fridge for 30 mins to an hour
    • step 3

Heat the oven to 180C/ 160C fan/ gas 4, and line a tray with baking parchment then scoop tbsp sized bits out, roll them into balls and space them out evenly on the sheet, flattening them out slightly - you might need to do this in batches to avoid crowding on the tray
    • step 4

Bake for 12 mins and allow them to cool before storing them in an airtight jar (they should keep for a week or two) - though I do recommend you eat some when they're still hot :)
