Ninja Foodi MAX Dual-Zone air-fryer AF400UK summary
This air-fryer from Ninja is a dual-zone model, with two cooking drawers providing a large capacity. With six cooking functions, we found this to be a versatile air-fryer, perfect if you’re catering for a crowd or want to be able to cook different ingredients simultaneously.
When it comes to air-fryers, large capacity and large footprint go hand-in-hand and this model is no different. You’ll need a dedicated space on the countertop to put it, and it’s worth bearing in mind that it’s too tall to fit under most raised cupboards.

How easy is the Ninja Foodi MAX Dual-Zone air-fryer AF400UK to use?
Whether you’re familiar with Ninja’s air-fryers or this is your first time, this model is intuitive with a detailed instruction manual which we found helpful for setting up. There are six different cooking modes to choose from which include max crisp, air-fry, roast, bake, reheat and dehydrate.
Like many dual compartment air-fryers, you have a choice of cooking modes. You can use the Match function to use both drawers simultaneously at the same temperature, allowing you to use the full capacity to cook a large quantity of one dish, like chips. Or you can select the Sync function which allows you to cook at different temperatures and times in the two drawers, where they are programmed to finish at the same time.
In practice we found it easy to use, with a loud beep to indicate the end of cooking.
Cooking results
As we’ve come to expect from Ninja air-fryers, the cooking results were impressive. Our halloumi cooked in seven minutes and had a golden colour and crisp texture, although the shape of the trays made for some unusual grill marks.
Using the Sync function, we cooked a chicken breast in one drawer and salmon fillet in the other, and there was no smell transfer between the two. The salmon looked great with a satisfyingly crispy skin, while the chicken wasn’t dry and maintained a nice level of moisture.
How sustainable is the Ninja Foodi MAX Dual-Zone air-fryer AF400UK?
Ninja are, in our experience, one of the best brands out there when it comes to recyclable packaging and this air-fryer was no exception.
It came in largely cardboard packaging with very limited plastic. We also were impressed by how easy it is to replace different elements of the air-fryer. On the Ninja Kitchen website you can buy replacements for the drawers, crisper plates and base unit of the machine, meaning that you can give the air-fryer an extended life even if a part breaks.
Conclusion
This air-fryer was a joy to use. With an easy set-up and informative manual we got cooking right away. Its attractive design means leaving it on the counter isn’t a chore, and the large capacity means using either the Sync or Match functions allows you to cook for a crowd. This would make a great air-fryer for busy families.
