How easy is the Ninja Foodi MAX Pro Health grill, flat plate and air-fryer AG651UK to use?
In the box, you'll find the main body of the machine, the three different cooking plates (crisper basket, grilling plate and flat plate) and the probe. Once we’d given the attachments a quick clean, we found the assembly straightforward, and after consulting the manual, we were ready to start cooking within 10 minutes.
We found this model easy to clean. Each cooking attachment is removable with effective non-stick coatings, which means food doesn't get baked on and is easy to remove. Unlike traditional drawer air-fryer models with an exposed heating element that can be tricky to clean, this model has a splatter guard which can be put in the dishwasher for ease.
Cooking results
We used the grill setting for cooking aubergine and halloumi which both had attractive grill lines similar to if using a griddle pan, with a concentrated flavour. It's worth noting that the grill plate sits at an angle, meaning food can slide downwards if you don't keep an eye on it.
The flat plate offers wide versatility from frying eggs to cooking pancakes. To test its function we used it to cook a salmon fillet, and the effect was similar to pan-frying, resulting in a super crispy skin.
We found the cooking probe required a bit of trial and error, resulting in our chicken breast being a little over-cooked. Next time, we would make sure t0 remove the chicken when the machine first beeps, which is at a few degrees under the desired temperature. Although a bit confusing at first, this means the chicken should finish cooking as it rests and avoid any dryness.
How sustainable is the Ninja Foodi MAX Pro Health grill, flat plate and air-fryer AG651UK?
From a sustainability standpoint, the versatility of this product will reduce the number of other appliances you have in your kitchen which is certainly a positive if trying to reduce waste.
There are options online to replace elements of the air-fryer and health grill, including the crisper basket, grill plate and flat grill, as well as the probe and the base unit. This means that you can extend the life of your model without needing to buy a full replacement.
Conclusion
If you’re after a small appliance that can offer maximum versatility in cooking functions, you’d be hard-pressed to find better than this model from Ninja. Although we found the cooking probe tricky to use at first, we were impressed by the results of the air-fryer crisper basket, the grilling plate and the flat plate.
