Mulled cider
It's easy to make your own mulled cider. As well as fruit and spices, we've added extra apple brandy to our version of this delicious winter warmer
- 200ml apple juice
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 tsp whole allspice
- 1 maceblade
- 2 whole cloves
- small strip fresh ginger
- 1 clementinezest finely peeled with a vegetable peeler
- 100g golden caster sugar

Method
step 1
Heat the apple juice with the whole spices, ginger, zest and sugar. Bring to the boil, then simmer for 10 mins.
step 2
Remove from the heat and leave to cool, then strain the syrup into small bottles.

This makes a nicely flavoured syrup but not sure what to do with it. Tried serving with apple juice as per recipe suggestion, but it was very sweet so you could only have a small glass of it. Might be nice as a dessert topping as the recipe suggests but didn't try that yet. Nice but niche.
