Method

  • step 1

Cook the macaroni following pack instructions, adding the peas for the final 3 mins. Drain, reserving a mug of cooking water, then tip the macaroni and peas back into the pan.

  • step 2

Heat grill to medium. Put the pan back on the heat and tip in the mascarpone, mustard and most of cheese. Mix well and add enough of the reserved cooking water to make a creamy sauce that coats the pasta without it looking dry. Stir in the ham and season to taste.

  • step 3

Tip into an ovenproof dish and scatter over the breadcrumbs and remaining cheese, then grill for 5 mins until golden.

Quick and really yummy! You don't need to cook the peas in pasta water, just add straight to the drained pasta and sauce and it will heat through. I also added some garlic powder.

This is absolutely delicious & really easy to make! I couldn't find any light mascarpone though so used full fat. I might use light cream cheese next time though instead of mascarpone. I used low fat cheddar as well.

I used Dijon mustard as I didn't have English in & I used a smoked gammon…

Delicious and quick. I used mustard powder as that's all I had. Otherwise made exactly per the recipe and was very happy with it.

This was a very easy meal and a nice change from the usual cheese sauce. I substituted sweetcorn for the peas and used cream cheese instead of mascarpone. Everything worked well and it's gone on my repeat list.
