Method

  • step 1

Put the Quaker Rolled Oats in a medium saucepan with the milk, half the sliced dates and a small pinch of salt. Cook over a medium heat, stirring frequently, for 4-5 mins until creamy and thickened. Add a splash of water if you prefer a thinner porridge. Stir through 2 tsp tahini.

  • step 2

Divide the porridge between two bowls, and spoon 1 tsp tahini over each, scatter over the remaining dates and a sprinkle of the toasted sesame seeds.

RECIPE TIPS
TOPPINGS

We’ve added toasted sesame seeds to accentuate the sesame flavour, but top with any toasted seeds you have in your cupboard – pumpkin, linseed and chia all work well.

An unusual but tasty breakfast, I wasn't sure at first but enjoyed it overall.

I wasn't sure if I'd like this as my only experience of tahini is in hummous, but it is quite nice. I felt the sesame taste was quite subtle so I added a bit extra the second time - but too much is not nice! I do it in the microwave (30s bursts towards the end to avoid explosions).

This recipe is absolutely delicious! I happened to have tahini and dates on hand so this was a wonderful breakfast this morning. I had regular oats (not rolled) so added a bit more to the pot to thicken it up. It's also perfectly easy to make a single serving. Will be making again...probably…
