For the vermouth, Martini Rosso goes very well. I'd been using Cinzano but the balance of flavours was not quite right for the Negroni. Without the gin, however, Cinzano and Campari and a dash of soda makes a most excellent Americano, James Bond's first drink in Casino Royale

If you want to avoid Campari’s high cost, high sugar content, and problematic Allura red food colouring, but keep the same taste and alcohol content, substitute a good tonic water for the Campari, and increase the amounts of each ingredient by about 50%. Once you get ice and citrus slices into it,…

Your sugar total is way off! 25 ml sweet vermouth has 3.6g sugar; 25 ml Campari has 6.8g sugar; gin has no sugar. Adds up to 10.4g sugar for this recipe, far more than the claimed 4g. So my question is: hey, how about checking your math on the sugar content of this recipe?

I do wish my taste buds were sensitive enough to react more to the gin when the Campari and Martini are such powerful competitors.
