Dominique Ansel

Dominique Ansel is the French pastry chef behind everything from the Cronut® (his signature croissant-doughnut hybrid pastry) to The Cookie Shot, Frozen S’more, Blossoming Hot Chocolate and more. He began working in a local restaurant aged 16 and, since then, his culinary journey has led him to many unique experiences, including military service in French Guiana, where he taught locals how to cook as part of a community program. Dominique honed his skills further at the legendary French pastry shop, Fauchon. In November 2011, Dominique opened Dominique Ansel Bakery in New York City with just four employees. His bakery quickly gained fame for the creation of the iconic Cronut®, named one of TIME Magazine's 25 Best Inventions of 2013. This innovative spirit earned Dominique numerous accolades, including the James Beard Award for Outstanding Pastry Chef. Dominique has expanded his culinary empire with the launch of Dominique Ansel Kitchen, U.P. (Unlimited Possibilities), and Dang Wen Li by Dominique Ansel in various locations. He has authored books including Everyone Can Bake and Secret Recipes, and has made television appearances on shows such as Eat Me! The Most Beautiful Cakes, Unique Sweets, Jeopardy! Masters and Top Chef. You can explore Dominique’s culinary creations on Instagram at @dominiqueansel and X at @dominiqueansel.
