What is frangipane?
A creamy mixture of ground almonds, butter, sugar and eggs that is sometimes used to fill tarts. Halved stone fruit, such as apricots and plums, can be baked on top to make a delicious dessert.
How to make frangipane
Basic frangipane ingredients:
- 100g butter
- 100g golden caster sugar
- 2 eggs
- 140g ground almonds
- 75g plain flour
Method:
- Beat the butter using an electric whisk until creamy, then add the sugar and continue beating until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the eggs, beating well after each addition, then stir in the almonds and flour.
- Spoon the frangipane into your dessert and cook according to recipe instructions.
